A northern Afghanistan police base suffered a Taliban attack late Monday killing 11 people. Local government officials said Tuesday that the militants first overran a checkpoint near the base and may have had help getting inside from one of the local policemen.  The details were provided by Mabobullah Ghafarum, a provincial councilman in Baghlan where the attack took place. The mystery of the plane that crashed in eastern Afghanistan on Monday is now being investigated by the US military.  Local officials claimed the aircraft came down in Deh Yak district and belonged to the state-owned airline Ariana.
