Record number of people relying on food donations The Trussell Trust, the UK’s largest food bank provider, has reported an unprecedented rise in the number of food parcels distributed in the past year. Nearly three million food parcels were distributed, an increase of 37% from the previous year, with 1.1 million of these parcels provided to children. Sudan: Third evacuation flight of Britons lands in Cyprus A third evacuation flight has rescued around 230-240 UK nationals from war-torn Sudan, landing in Cyprus, with flights set to continue throughout the day. The British troops are endeavouring to extract citizens from the east African country during a 72-hour ceasefire.  The trapped nationals were told to make their way to an airstrip near the Sudanese capital Khartoum once the ceasefire began at midnight local time on Monday. Singapore executes man for supplying cannabis Singapore has executed a man for conspiring to traffic cannabis, despite appeals for clemency from his family, activists, and the United Nations. Tangaraju Suppiah, 46, was hanged on Wednesday for a plot to smuggle 1kg (35oz) of cannabis.
