Thames Water boss quits after sewage spills The boss of Thames Water Sarah Bentley has quit after two years in the role, weeks after giving up her bonus, following the sewage spills. Thames Water said she leave her role with immediate effect. Chief financial officer Alistair Cochran will now take over as interim co-chief executive. Senior doctors back strike action in England over pay and conditions NHS consultants have overwhelmingly backed strike action in England as members want more pay. Around 86% of British Medical Association (BMA) members backed strikes over what the union called repeated pay cuts. The BMA had already announced a walkout would take place on 20 and 21 July if doctors backed the action. The senior doctor’s strike will come off the heels of a five-day strike by junior doctors. Actor Julian Sands confirmed dead after remains found and identified in California mountains British actor Julian Sands, best known for roles in A Room With A View and Smallville, has been confirmed dead after his remains were found in mountains in California. Walkers found the remains on Saturday, police say, and they have now been formally identified as Sands – who disappeared in January during a hike.
