British Museum worker sacked over missing treasures A member of staff at the British Museum in London has been sacked after treasures were reported: “missing, stolen, or damaged.” A police investigation has begun. Items including gold, jewellery and gems of semi-precious stones were among those missing from the museum, one of the UK’s largest tourist attractions. More than 60 migrants feared dead at sea off Cape Verde coast More than 60 people are feared dead, whilst 38 people have been rescued after a boat was found off Cape Verde in West Africa. Almost all those on the board, which was at sea for over a month, are thought to be from Senegal. Canada wildfire: Race to evacuate city as blaze approaches Canada’s Yellowknife – one of the largest cities in Canada’s far north – is being evacuated amid warnings that a wildfire could reach it by the weekend.
