Japan hit by typhoon as millions told to evacuate Japan has been hit by one of its strongest typhoons in decades with torrential rain and gusts of 157mph.  Three people have died in a landslide and dozens have been injured as more than 5 million people have been evacuated.  Japanese authorities say more than 5.2 million people in Japan have been ordered to evacuate their homes.
