Kurt Olsen, previously with the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Florida, has resigned from the Justice Department amid ongoing investigations into alleged election irregularities. His departure follows that of prosecutor Joe diGenova, as the department faces scrutiny over its handling of related cases.

Kennedy also called for a nationwide address on the Iran conflict, suggesting that either Trump or senior officials explain the situation to the public.

During the interview, he emphasised the importance of addressing public concerns over living costs, which he linked to the situation in Iran and urged the White House to remain focused on these issues.

The U.S. Army Reserve is exploring options to augment Southern Command with police, medical, and logistics units within four months, as part of continued military planning related to Cuba. The command has requested feedback on the availability of various formations by September 25.

China and the United States have established a communication channel for managing AI-related incidents and agreed to enhance military crisis communications following a summit between Presidents Xi Jinping and Trump. Both nations will also cooperate on tariffs and rare earths supply, with further talks scheduled for November.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian highlighted a “distrustful atmosphere” between Iran and the U.S., questioning the sincerity of potential negotiations. Following President Trump’s rejection of Iran’s proposal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, Pezeshkian stated that Iran would abide by agreements if the U.S. reciprocates.

President Trump is cancelling nearly $1 billion in spending approved by Congress, including $567 million intended for refugee and migrant services. This action, employing a “pocket rescission,” has drawn criticism from Republican Senator Susan Collins, who labelled it illegal and a violation of congressional authority.
