Arsenal reportedly have ‘strong interest’ in signing Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi in January but deals for six other transfer targets are unlikely.
The Gunners tried to sign Zubimendi last January and despite the midfielder turning them down, he was open to moving to the Emirates in the summer.
While a deal did not get over the line ahead of the 2023-24 campaign, it is believed that the north Londoners are still very keen on the 24-year-old.
According to The Athletic, ‘multiple factors would have to combine’ for Arsenal to sign Zubimendi this January, including getting him to agree to leaving mid-season when Real Sociedad are still competing in the Champions League.
The Spain international reportedly has a £52.8m release clause in his contract at the La Liga club.
Meanwhile, Arsenal ‘admire’ three strikers – Napoli’s Victor Osimhen, RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko and Brighton’s Evan Ferguson – but any potential deals are thought to be unlikely and it is not anticipated that they will be signed in January.
Arsenal have also long been linked to Ivan Toney but it is most likely that he will stay at Brentford until at least the summer, with the Bees demanding a huge transfer fee and reluctant to sell after Bryan Mbeumo’s three-month injury.

Meanwhile, Arsenal are not interested in signing Dominic Solanke from AFC Bournemouth, despite reports, while the Gunners are not planning to sign Aston Villa’s Douglas Luiz either – who is not wanted unanimously at the club.
Arsenal are in a tight spot regarding profitability and sustainability rules (PSR) which may limit their activity in the January transfer window.
The club’s immediate priority it to sign David Raya permanently for £27m, with the Brentford goalkeeper having arrived at the Emirates on loan this summer.
