Amber Rose allows son, 4, to drink coffee ‘every day’ and insists ‘caffeine isn’t bad’

Amber Rose has sparked a parenting debate after revealing that both of her children aged four and 10 are regular coffee drinkers.

The model and SlutWalk star shares 10-year-old son Sebastian ‘Bash’ Taylor with ex-husband Wiz Khalifa, and her youngest son Slash Electric with ex-boyfriend Alexander ‘AE’ Edwards, who is now dating music icon Cher.

When it comes to Bash and Slash’s drinking preferences, Amber, 40, isn’t so restrictive and allows them to consume caffeine ‘every day.’

In her latest podcast appearance, the fashion muse said: ‘Slash is four, and he drinks coffee all the time.’

‘Me and my kids sit, and we drink coffee, and we talk. It’s not a big deal. It’s really not,’ she added.

When asked by No Jumper hosts Adam 22 and Lena The Plug whether they drink from kids size cups, Amber confirmed they use adult cups and drink coffee ‘every day.’

She stated: ‘My four-year-old will wake up and be like, “I want coffee and breakfast”. It’s only caffeine. It’s a little caffeine. It’s not bad for you.’

As well as their morning cups of coffee, Slash and Bash also enjoy Coca-Cola and root beer.

‘I feel like nowadays, millennial parents, we really don’t give a f**k,’ Amber claimed.

Reacting to her revelations, one viewer commented: ‘Letting kids drink coffee is irresponsible… and insane.. do some research on how much caffeine is in coffee & should children be exposed to that kind of thing.’

‘Caffeine is absolutely not ok for children btw,’ another weighed in.

One viewer laughed: ‘My wifes jaw is on the floor watching this.’

However, others defended Amber’s decision on what to feed her children, including one who said: ‘Those are her kids! tend to your own! I’m hope everyone commenting are perfect parents.’

The NHS states that tea and coffee are not suitable for babies and young children.

Helen Burgess, nutritionist and founder of Little Cooks Co, told Metro.co.uk in 2022 that she used to be given tea when she was a child before she went to sleep but is now more knowledgeable about the effects of caffeine on young children.

‘However, more is understood now on caffeine and its effect on the body.

‘Caffeine is a stimulant and as sleep is so crucial during childhood (it’s when a lot of growth and development happens), we don’t want to put anything in the way of that. It can also temporarily increase blood pressure and heart rate,’ she said.

The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that children younger than 12 should not have caffeine in any capacity, and advises that neither children nor teens should have energy drinks.

Amber dated Slash’s father, music producer Edwards, for three years until they split in 2021. Before that, she was married to Bash’s dad, rapper Wiz Khalifa, for two years with their divorce finalised in 2016.
