If you love to shop, you’ll be curious about Amazon Prime Early Access.

According to the Amazon website, Prime Early Access is ‘the start’ of its holiday season – landing more than a month before shopping days Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

It could be an opportunity to start your Christmas shopping early, particularly if you’re after trending toys or cool tech to keep as December 25 gifts… or just to avoid the mainstream chaos of Black Friday.

But what exactly is Early Access, and how can you get involved?

Here is everything you need to know.

What is Amazon Prime Early Access and when is the sale?

‘Early Access’ is a 48-hour sale event for Amazon Prime members in the UK, US and 13 other countries.

The sale starts tomorrow (Tuesday, October 11) at 12am BST, running through to Wednesday, October 12.

Amazon claims the event will offer ‘hundreds of thousands of deals’ on various products – ranging from popular toys to electronics, home, kitchen and fashion items.

Deals will be available throughout the 48 hours, prompted through a Top 100 list launched on the first day, as well as a dedicated Prime Early Access sales page, which is already live.

The other countries that will have an Early Access sale are Austria, Canada, China, France, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden and Turkey.

Do I need to be an Amazon Prime member to shop the Early Access sale?

You do need to be a Prime member to nab the deals on offer.

However, those currently signed up to a free trial of Amazon Prime are also included, meaning if you’re not already using Prime – you could quickly sign up to a free trial now.

This isn’t a sneaky hack, as About Amazon encourages readers to sign up in time for the event.

In the UK, free trials are available for those who haven’t been a member or had a trial in the last 12 months. You should be able to see what trials are available to you on the Amazon Prime page.

If you’ve used up your trial recently, it costs £8.99 to sign up to Prime right now, though you can cancel anytime.

Students can usually get a six-month free trial, along with a discounted monthly cost of £4.49.
