If there’s one thing you need to hear today, it’s Alison Hammond speaking Spanish.

The Birmingham-born This Morning presenter will return for a second series of I Can See Your Voice on BBC One this weekend.

Bafta-nominated Alison will join host Paddy McGuinness, and fellow celebrity investigators, Jimmy Carr and Amanda Holden, as contestants attempt to win a cash prize.

The aim of the game is for the investigators to guess who can and can’t sing from a group of mystery people standing before them, all without ever hearing them sing a note.

For episode one, Tony Hadley of Spandau Ballet fame will be joining the team to bring his expertise to help spot the imposters amongst the Beyoncé wannabes.

Naturally, national treasure Alison will be providing a laugh a minute, with an exclusive preview showing her speaking ‘fluent’ Spanish with her famous Brummy accent.

The teaser shows the star trying to suss out whether a contestant is fluent in the language or not and help the contestants with her detective skills.

‘Listen, I can speak fluent Spanish. I did it at GCSE level. And I could tell by the way that she was singing, that she was miming really, really well, and I do believe she’s a good singer,’ Alison said.

Comedian Jimmy then chimed in: ‘Can I ask a quick question? Because, you’re fluent in Spanish,’ to which Alison quickly replied: ‘Yes, darling, I am fluent in Spanish.’

‘How do you say in Spanish, “I’m delusional”,’ he asked, causing the studio to erupt into laughter.

To Jimmy’s surprise, though, Alison broke out in a bunch of Spanish phrases – although we can’t quite be sure that ‘Estoy delirando,’ aka the correct Spanish term for ‘I am delusional,’ is what she said.

Presenter Paddy was seriously impressed either way, and while the accuracy of her other comments we can’t be 100% sure of, we did recognise a couple of words… ‘Birmingham’ being one of them.

‘Me llamo Alison,’ she also declared proudly, to say, ‘My name is Alison.’

Real Spanish or not, the former Big Brother housemate had everyone in stitches and we now need Alison to recite the entire dictionary in Spanish with her Brummy accent, please and thank you.

Ahead of the new series launch, Alison shared what she believes makes a convincing performer.

‘Just being authentic to themselves and not overplaying it. When I see someone polished and finished, I’m always a little bit suspicious. When it feels natural and authentic to that person, that’s when you know they’re a really good singer,’ she told BBC.

As for her strategy to figure out the stars from the tone deaf, she added: ‘I have no strategy and this series has probably been my worse series for success rate. It’s more difficult this year as people know the show now and they get it, the bad singers are really good at pretending!’

I Can See Your Voice airs Saturday on BBC One.
