It’s official – Alison Hammond is joining Great British Bake Off.
The This Morning favourite is set to replace Matt Lucas in the famous tent on the Channel 4 baking competition as she joins co-host Noel Fielding and judges Dame Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood.
She shared the news in a brilliant voiceover along with an epic cake-based recreation of the set.
Playing a roving reporter, she said: ‘Breaking news, Alison Hammond is joining the team of the Great British Bake Off. Alison, have you got any words whatsoever?’
Responding to her own question, she added: ‘Well, d’ya know what? I’m just absolutely thrilled, I’m gonna be meeting the bakers very soon and joining the Great British Bake Off.
‘I’m so very excited! As you can see, all my colleagues are absolutely speechless… Yep, yep, just speechless. We’re so very happy and we can’t wait to get started.’

She wrote alongside the video: ‘It’s OFFICIAL!!! It’s happening The Great British Bake off ! Let’s have it ! The cake that is 😂#GBBO 2023’
The epic move makes the former Big Brother contestant the first non-white host or judge in the blockbuster show’s 14-year history.
Meanwhile, it’s not her first stint in the tent, having appeared as a contestant on the Stand Up To Cancer special back in 2020.
Alison appeared alongside the likes of Joe Sugg, James Blunt and Alex Jones in the charity special edition of the long-running series.

Last month, showrunner and executive producer Richard McKerrow revealed what the team were looking for in Matt’s replacement in the tent.
He explained they had been looking for someone who would ‘look after the bakers during their experience and be curious about what they’re baking and to do it with charm, humour and kindness’.
