Alec Baldwin pleads not guilty to new involuntary manslaughter charge over Halyna Hutchins’s Rust shooting
Hollywood star Alec Baldwin has pleaded not guilty in the involuntary manslaughter case related to cinematographer Halyna Hutchins’ tragic death.
She died on the set of the Western film “Rust” near Santa Fe in October 2021. Baldwin, 65, was rehearsing a pistol scene when the fatal shooting took place.
Earlier charges were dismissed in April, shortly before a scheduled trial. However, new forensic evidence has prompted New Mexico prosecutors to reinstate charges.
Baldwin submitted his not-guilty plea in a court filing on Wednesday, ahead of a cancelled virtual court appearance in Santa Fe. The actor faces charges after “additional facts” surfaced from forensic tests on the weapon, injuring director Joel Souza in the same incident.
