Alan Shearer says Marcus Rashford’s place in the England squad for Euro 2024 is under threat
Alan Shearer feels Marcus Rashford’s place in England’s Euro 2024 squad is under significant threat, though Manchester United team-mate Kobbie Mainoo has played himself into contention.
The Three Lions followed up a defeat against Brazil with an entertaining 2-2 draw against Belgium on Tuesday evening, rescuing a draw in the 95th minute thanks to Jude Bellingham.
Rashford was an unused substitute against Belgium and only played 15 minutes against Brazil, and Shearer feels he could be one of several high-profile omissions Gareth Southgate will need to make ahead of the Euros.
Writing for The Athletic, Shearer said of the United forward: ‘If Rashford plays well between now and the end of the season, then that could potentially force the manager’s hand. But I don’t think he’s a certainty to go, no.
