Adam Driver fires expletive retort at critic after savage Ferrari comment

Adam Driver was positively fuming after a movie-goer criticised his new film Ferrari to his face.

The Oscar-nominated actor attended a screening of the upcoming blockbuster at the Camerimage Film Festival in Poland on Sunday.

During the Q&A session after the film was shown, one audience member bravely confronted Adam, 39, about the crash scenes.

‘What do you think about [the] crash scenes? They looked pretty harsh, drastic and, I must say, cheesy for me. What do you think?’ the audience member asked as Adam sat on stage.

The Star Wars actor casually took a long sip of his water, shook his head and then delivered the scathing response.

    ‘F*** you. I don’t know? Next question.’

Adam has a history of uncomfortable interview moments as he famously avoided attending an NPR interview in 2019. He was due to appear on Fresh Air with Terry Gross but walked out of the interview after the host tried to get him to listen to a clip of the actor singing in Netflix movie Marriage Story.

However, Adam later explained that he never likes to watch himself act after his performance in 2013 movie Inside Llewyn Davis.

Ferrari, a biopic directed by Michael Mann, sees Adam portray Enzo Ferrari and follows the sports car magnate as his company prepares to enter the Mille Miglia, a 100-mile motorsport race.

Adam takes the lead alongside a star-studded cast including Penelope Cruz, Shailene Woodley and Patrick Dempsey. Cruz plays Ferrari’s wife Laura while Woodley stars as his mistress Lina Lardi. Real-life motor enthusiast Dempsey appears as driver Piero Taruffi, alongside cast members Sarah Gadon and Gabriel Leone.

It comes after Adam became overwhelmed with emotion when Ferrari received a seven-minute standing ovation at the Venice Film Festival in September. Fighting back tears, the Emmy nominee basked in the applause before director Mann, 80, brought him to his feet.

The Hollywood star underwent a major transformation to portray Ferrari, with the trailer showing the actor wearing a grey wig with a receding hairline making fans double take.

Ferrari will be racing into UK cinemas on Boxing Day.
