Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vows to ‘wipe out’ Hezbollah as Israeli strikes intensify in southern Lebanon, following an attack on Iran, during peace talks.

Netanyahu has said that Israel will ramp up attacks against Hezbollah, despite the recent “ceasefire” extension agreed to between Lebanese and Israeli officials.

“We will wipe them out completely,” he said in a statement, ignoring the ceasefire agreement.

The statement was not as shocking as it once would have been, as Israel has repeatedly broken ceasefire agreements with Palestine, Iran and Lebanon. An Al Jazeera’s correspondent in southern Lebanon, Obaida Hitto, said that, at this point, the ceasefire is just “ink on paper”.

People in Lebanon have gathered to observe Liberation Day, which marks the date in 2000 when Israel ended its 22-year occupation of southern Lebanon and the Lebanese are determined to fight back against the Israeli regime.
