    National Highways reported the M6 Toll closed southbound between T4 and T2 due to a coach fire, with emergency services on the scene.
    TRAFFIC IMPACTED
    The M6 Toll road remains closed southbound between T4 and T2 as emergency services address the ongoing coach fire, confirmed by National Highways.

    What we know so far

    A coach believed to be carrying Manchester City fans to the Carabao Cup final caught fire on the M6 Toll road, causing significant disruption. The incident occurred near Coleshill Parkway in Birmingham as fans were en route to Wembley for the match scheduled to start at 4.30pm.

    Images from the scene showed the vehicle, operated by Ridleys, engulfed in flames. Dozens of passengers were seen standing on the banking beside the motorway while emergency services worked to control the blaze.

    National Highways confirmed that the southbound carriageway of the toll road is closed between junctions T4 and T2 due to the incident. They reported on X, “Emergency services are in attendance. More information to follow shortly. Thank you for your patience.”

    Coach on fire stops M6 traffic ahead of Carabao Cup final at Wembley | News UK

    A coach thought to be carrying fans for a cup final match between Arsenal and Manchester City has burst into flames on the M6 Toll road.

    The vehicle, which was reportedly on its way to Wembley for the Carabao Cup final, has stopped traffic near Coleshill Parkway in Birmingham.

    Manchester City fans were making their way to the capital in time for the match due to start at 4.30pm.

    Pictures showed the rear of the coach operated by Ridleys engulfed in flames on the Midland Expressway.

    Dozens of passengers were shown standing on the banking to the side of the motorway watching as emergency services tackled the huge blaze.

    National Highways confirmed that the traffic was suspended on part of the southbound carriageway of the toll road.

    It said in a post on X: ‘The #M6Toll in #Warwickshire is closed southbound between T4 (#Weeford) and T2 (#Coleshill) due to a coach fire.

    ‘Emergency services are in attendance. More information to follow shortly. Thank you for your patience.’
