Russian father ‘beaten and choked by Brits’ in sunbed war at 5-star resort | News World
A Russian father-of-three was allegedly ‘beaten and choked with a towel’ during an argument about sunbeds while at a five-star resort.
The Moscow man was staying at Sharm el-Sheikh, a luxury resort on Egypt’s Red Sea, where he claims British tourists attacked him.
Russian reports say local police have taken statements and opened a criminal investigation.
Dispute Over Sunbeds
The man claimed he left his sunbeds with his three young daughters to go swimming, and when the group returned, they found that ’15 British tourists’ had thrown their towels on the ground and taken the loungers.
He claims he confronted them and asked what happened, at which point the Brits allegedly touted: ‘These are ours. Get out of here.’
A pro-Kremlin outlet claimed that during the dispute, one of the British women ‘pushed’ a little girl, at which point the father intervened.
‘The father intervened on her behalf, but he was then beaten and choked with a rope by the crowd of Brits,’ the report claimed.

The pro-Putin outlet also claimed that the victims weren’t given medical assistance.
Footage reportedly shows the British family with a female voice saying: ‘Are you recording?’
Another man’s voice could be heard saying, ‘F*** off.’
Two alleged British tourists – a woman and a man – were seen making alleged ‘rude gestures’ towards the Russians.
Staff from the hotel were filmed trying to calm the dispute, but there are discrepancies between the accounts, including the number of ‘British tourists’ involved.
The argument was at the Sunrise Arabian Beach Resort, where rooms start at £155.

Sunbed Wars
Brits are known for annual ‘sunbed wars’, which reached a whole new level last year as holidaymakers slept outside on them to reserve a coveted spot.
So-called sunbed wars are a feature at holiday hotels and resorts in sun spots across the world.
With loungers often outnumbered by guests, a bun fight ensues for the best spots by the pool.
It comes as research found that people from the West Midlands were most likely to admit to having reserved sun loungers while abroad.
Meanwhile, those from the West Country and Yorkshire and the Humber were the best behaved, with just eight percent fessed up to being a bed hogger.
