Lowdon buoyed by Perez’s return to F1 machinery in Cadillac TPC run

Cadillac’s Graeme Lowdon Hails Perez’s Return as Promising Start for 2026 F1 Season

Cadillac Racing’s Graeme Lowdon expressed optimism following Sergio Pérez’s successful test with the team, emphasizing the Mexican driver’s “positive attitude” as he prepares to re-enter Formula 1 with the new franchise set to debut in 2026.

    Lowdon Buoyed by Perez’s Return

Pérez’s recent outing at Imola saw him take the wheel of a 2023 Ferrari—a vital step in acclimating to Cadillac’s ambitious F1 project. Over two days, the seasoned driver completed an impressive 183 laps, marking his first time back in an F1 cockpit since his departure from Red Bull last year.

An Essential Test for Team Dynamics

Lowdon highlighted the significance of this test, stating, “We’re very grateful to Ferrari for lending us an F1 car. It’s crucial for our mechanics to practice essential procedures in a realistic environment.” The two-day session was not just about familiarizing Pérez with driving again, but also about honing teamwork skills among the crew, which is vital for success in the competitive F1 landscape.

    Physical Readiness and Mental Adaptation

“Seeing Checo back in the car was encouraging,” added Lowdon. “He coped incredibly well with the physically demanding aspects of driving an F1 car, especially considering the neck strain involved.” This confidence in Pérez’s physical preparedness will be vital as the team gears up for the demands of a full season.

    Looking Ahead to Season 2026

Cadillac’s preparations are also bolstered by the impending arrival of Valtteri Bottas after the 2025 season. Lowdon stated, “Having two experienced drivers like Pérez and Bottas—who together account for 16 grand prix wins and over 100 podium finishes—will be invaluable as we embark on this journey.” The synergy between the seasoned drivers and the mechanics will be essential for Cadillac as they aim to make a competitive debut in Formula 1.

    Conclusion

As Pérez continues to adapt and regain his racing rhythm, the entire Cadillac Racing team is gearing up for a significant challenge in 2026. With focus and preparation, the team eyes a strong performance in what promises to be a thrilling addition to the Formula 1 calendar.
