Celebrity Traitors star gave Jonathan Ross perspective during ‘horrible’ experience
Jonathan Ross has admitted Celebrity Traitors was ‘horrible at times’ as he was forced to lie to his fellow contestants.
The Big Dog himself was paired in the turret with Cat Burns and eventual winner Alan Carr, and he has revealed how they all handled the pressure of all that backstabbing and murder.
Speaking on Good Morning Britain the night after the BBC’s grand final, Traitors superfan Jonathan explained how the experience was ‘much harder’ than he expected.
‘I don’t wanna say anything negative about the show. But I did feel it was much harder than I expected, and I did struggle with that,’ he admitted.
‘I know Alan [was the same] – Cat, not so much. She said “it’s a game” and she found it easier to put it into perspective.’
The 64-year-old chat show host recalled their drives back to their accommodation after late nights in the turret, with him and Alan ‘very aware that it was taking its toll’.

‘It was horrible at times. As a Traitor, you’d be speaking to really nice people who you wanted to support in the show, you wanted to make sure they had a good time as well,’ he explained.

What charity did Alan Carr choose after winning Celebrity Traitors?
Which charity did he choose? Alan Carr revealed his £87,500 prize pot will be donated to children’s cancer charity Neuroblastoma UK
What is Neuroblastoma? According to the charity’s own website, ‘Neuroblastoma is classified as an embryonal tumour, a type of cancer that develops from the cells left behind from a baby’s development in the womb. The cells from which it develops from are specific cells in the nervous system called neuroblasts, giving neuroblastoma its name.’
What does the charity do? The organisation is a research charity hoping to ‘lead to more effective treatments and ultimately a cure for every child diagnosed with the disease’.

What did Alan Carr say? ‘The charity is so close to my heart that it all became a bit too much. Hopefully when people see how upset I was they won’t feel so bad that I killed all those national treasures.’
‘You go in saying I will give as much as I can, and try and help this show be as good as it can be, I always turn up to work. And then you have to try and engineer ways to get them out,’ he said.
‘Then you see them standing there being banished because you’ve been successful, and then you see that they’re upset… It’s a horrible feeling, even though it’s essential to the game.’
