Cliff Notes – British rockers forced to postpone gig hours before start after tough few days

    • The Sherlocks have postponed multiple tour dates due to frontman Kiaran Crook’s ongoing recovery from illness, impacting shows in several UK cities.
    • The band announced the cancellations just hours before a scheduled performance at The Sugarmill in Stoke, expressing their disappointment and commitment to returning at full strength.
    • They plan to resume their tour on November 13 in Liverpool, with a series of intimate gigs scheduled until December 20.

British indie rockers The Sherlocks have been forced to postpone another string of gigs after facing a ‘tough few days’.

The group were due to play three shows over the weekend on their 29-date tour across the UK — including one tonight.

Six hours before their show at Stoke’s The Sugarmill was due to kick off this evening, they shared the bad news on Instagram.

‘Important – we’re gutted to say this weekend’s shows are also postponed,’ the message read.

‘Kiaran’s still recovering and wants to make sure his voice is back to 100% before getting back on stage. It’s been a tough few days and we hate letting anyone down.’

Kiaran Crook serves as the band’s frontman alongside brother Brandon on drums, guitarist Alex Procter and bassist Trent Jackson.

They added: ‘Thanks for all the love and support, it means the world. We’ll keep you all updated. Look forward to starting the tour next week.’

Last weekend, they revealed ‘illness ha[d] hit the Sherlocks’ camp hard’ and put out a last-minute note to let fans know their shows were off.

They wrote: ‘With such an extensive run of dates, we want to make sure we’re fighting fit and ready to deliver the best show possible every single night’.

So far, all their gigs have been postponed, impacting fans in Wolverhampton, Chester, Stoke, Norwich and Dover.

The Sherlocks are due to be back on tour in Liverpool on November 13, performing three gigs every weekend until December 20.

Having started during the indie sleaze era of the 2010s, the group saw chart success with tracks like Live for the Moment and Everything Must Make Sense.

Comparing the group to the likes of Sundara Karma or Catfish and the Bottlemen, Kiaran previously told Metro they ‘fell in the middle somewhere’ of that guitar band surge.

‘Don’t know where but it’s somewhere,’ he joked, adding that ‘some have died off a little bit, some have packed in and some have gone way bigger.’

In the past, they have opened for the likes of Kings of Leon, Kaiser Chiefs, and Liam Gallagher at stadiums but this tour was set to be a little more ‘intimate’.

‘Stadium gigs are just mental but they’re almost easier, in a way,’ Kiaran said. ‘There’s that many people, you can’t focus on one face.

‘It’s weird. You might as well be staring out at the ocean. So it becomes easier. Whereas when you’re in these little clubs, it’s a different ball game.’

The group were hoping to ‘just tear the roof off’ for this tour, which blends 2,000 capacity venues with 300 capacity venues.

Adding on Instagram, The Sherlocks asked fans to wish them a speedy recovery but promised to keep them updated.
