Will GTA 6 have story DLC

Will GTA 6 have story DLC

Cliff Notes – Will GTA 6 have story DLC

    • Rockstar may reintroduce story DLC for GTA 6, a departure from their current trend of focusing solely on online modes.
    • Speculation suggests that the cost of potential DLC could rival full game prices, raising concerns about value for consumers.

Will GTA 6 have story DLC?

GTA 6 – will there be more story to pay for? (Rockstar)

The Thursday letters page has some idea for future Assassin’s Creed remakes, as one reader looks forward to Silent Hill f over Halloween.

    Next gen DLC
With Nintendo ripping fans off with the Donkey Kong Bananza DLC it made me think what will be the future for DLC in general, in the new generation. If one company gets away with it, especially if it’s Nintendo, then I think everyone will look to copy them. The only company other publishers copy even more is Rockstar and they gave up on DLC this gen.

They had it with the online modes of their games, obviously, but there was no story DLC, that you paid for separately, for the campaign. Some rumours say they’ll go back to having it for GTA 6 though and Rockstar has said that they’ll develop more quickly after GTA 6’s new engine is finished, so it does seem a real possibility.

I’d guess they will have story DLC, but the real question is what will it cost? If the game costs £80+ and bare bones Nintendo DLC costs £17, what are we talking about for GTA 6? A lot I would say. I could imagine a future where DLC costs as much as whole games, at least at last gen prices. If it’s got the content to match maybe that won’t be such a bad thing but there’s no going back after that line is crossed.

    Spooky season
Appreciate the heads-up on the Silent Hill f discount, as I’m starting to get really interested in the game, which I feel is getting a lot of hype behind it now. I’ve been trying to avoid spoilers but thankfully that weird DualShockers review didn’t really say anything. Can’t believe they revealed their score though, I guess they’re not getting any more review copies.

Konami’s approach to Silent Hill has been very weird but hopefully this means Silent Hill 2 remake wasn’t just a one-off and it is possible to create completely new games that are just as good. Halloween isn’t much more than a month away now and hopefully this will be the perfect game to play during the spooky season.

Since Famitsu has already posted their review (also positive) I assume everyone must have review copies by now. Can you say when the embargo is?

GC: We don’t think we’re allowed to say, but it’ll be sooner rather than later.

    Dyscalculia Edition
I have over 50 copies of The Last Of Us!

There’s the PlayStation 3 version plus Game of the Year Edition and some collector’s editions. Then the PlayStation 4 Remastered version. Again, several versions plus collector’s editions.

PlayStation 5’s The Last Of Us Part 1 (Remake), plus collector’s editions. There’s even a Firefly edition with a Steam code in the box.

So… over 50 copies of the game across four platforms. Don’t get me started on Part 2, which I love even more than Part 1.

Gonna take you for a ride
I see that the Marvel Vs. Capcom Fighting Collection has passed 1 million sales, which seems a lot to me for a compilation of 2D fighting games that are as old as the Dreamcast or older. I know Arc System Works are good but I’m just not feeling anything from Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls so far.

To me a big part of the appeal of Marvel Vs. Capcom is the cheese, which suits both Marvel and Capcom. It doesn’t take itself seriously and most of the costumes are purposefully old school. Tokon seems to be taking itself too seriously and the character selection so far seems very random.

I just hope that it’s somehow possible to have two Marvel fighting games at once, but somehow I doubt it. But if that doesn’t happen maybe they can do the next logic thing: Arc System Works Vs. Capcom!

    All or nothing
I’m glad to be in the 3% still buying physical games. I recently bought Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 and Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4. If a game doesn’t come out for Xbox on disc I don’t buy it.

PC is obviously all digital, but hard drive space is nowhere near as expensive as Xbox expansion cards.

Should the next gen be all digital then I’m just upgrading my PC graphics card or storage.

GC: It wasn’t 3% of game sales, but 3% of PlayStation revenues, including hardware, peripherals, and subscriptions. Even so, it’s clearly a small number.

    Modern problems
I’m not sure why Ubisoft would want to turn Assassin’s Creed Black Flag into one of the role-playing style games. I know people are split on whether the new games are better or worse but surely the fact that we had both types was a positive? If you’re going to turn one of the most popular of the old style into a role-player that seems a bit of a knock to anyone that was going to play it for a nostalgia hit.

I do totally agree with the idea of getting rid of the modern day stuff though. I don’t think anyone’s liked any of that since the very first one. I get the idea but the back story to the series is such nonsense there’s just no way it can really work.

As far as I’m concerned, they should remove that aspect from all current and previous games. Just do it like BlackAdder, where it’s vaguely implied to be a future relative. Or the same person being reincarnated or something. Or maybe like Highlander where you’re immortal and you’re just slowly touring around the world. It really doesn’t matter because people are playing for the setting and the new characters, not some ongoing story that doesn’t make any sense.

Although I wonder if they could go back and remake the newer games and then turn them into not role-players? That would be a neat reversal. So maybe remake Assassin’s Creed 2 next as a role-player but then do Origins as a straight action game. I’d be interested in that.

Ubisoft get a lot of criticism, they always have really, but I like most of them games, especially Assassin’s Creed. Despite all the complaints I think Shadows was one of the best ones they’ve done.

    Silksong-esque
I’m backing this on Kickstarter currently, it’s a Metroidvania (yes, another one!) and the animation looks very good from the trailer. It’s called Otherside. I am hoping it will reach its goal. It’s got 11 days to go but it’s only 30% funded so far.

If you think it looks good it is only £11 to get a digital copy.

    Alternative hardware
I have seen and experienced the future of PC gaming and I’m no fanboy but it’s Nvidia.

As well as their superior GPUs and associated software it’s also their exceptionally good GeForce Now cloud gaming service!

GeForce Now is not cheap, at £200 a year, but if you factor in that it would take almost six years of that annual expense to equal buying a RTX 5080, or even three and a half years to buy a PS5 Pro, it’s not so bad.
You need a good reliable internet connection, the latest 5080 upgrade requires 100 Mbps, but the results are to me astounding.

My three-year-old, almost £2,000 PC can play path-traced Cyberpunk 2077 at 1440p using DLSS with around 50-55 fps. With GeForce Now I’m experiencing it at 4K with 90-105 fps and with the right settings streaming the game looks almost identical to having it play natively.

I’m a heathen to most PC gamers, having grown up with joysticks and pads I cannot stand playing games with keyboard and mouse, preferring a controller. With a controller I really can’t notice any latency using this cloud service, but I’m guessing some must be introduced for those using the more traditional way of playing PC games.

So apart from latency, what else is wrong with it? I would say right now it’s the availability of games. A large part of my library can be played on the service but there are some notable absences. No Sony or Rockstar games are available on it, with patchy support for EA games (or at least the EA games I own).

I assure you I’m not a shill, I just wanted to tell people about a good (in my humble opinion) alternative to buying ever increasingly costly hardware and I’m only talking about the ultimate tier, I have no idea how lower tiers will look or behave.

It’s not for everyone but some of you may like what you find.

I don’t know about dedicating 40 years of my life to collecting Mario merch, but I would like to own a 19th century Nintendo playing card. That’d be pretty cool.

I thought I’d send another picture of blacked out reviews that I keep having issues with on my iPhone. I googled your review of Yoshi’s Crafted World, as I was interested in getting your opinion of it, and it’s all blacked out.

GC: Thanks for that. IT are looking at the issue right now, so if anyone else has the problem please write in with details of the device you’re using and we’ll pass the information on.
