Why is MAGA splitting over Israel?Ā
This week all the talk has been about the growing international condemnation of Israel’s war in Gaza, including from a usually staunch ally – the evangelical right wing of America.
But what has made them voice a rare criticism?
The international community, including the evangelical right wing in America, is increasingly condemning Israel’s actions in Gaza, marking a notable shift among traditional allies.
The split occurred during the Iran-Israel conflict, where almost half the conservative right did not want the president to go to war with Iran or join in the bombing campaign.
The clash then evolved into the Gaza genocideā which is taking place between two powerful factions of the MAGA movement ā and is unfolding primarily at an ideological level, but its consequences are far from academic.
Support for Israel is taking on American society
The MAGA community can see the toll support for Israel is taking on American society. Having unconditional support for Israel ahead of America’s interests is taking its toll.
Despite public appearances President Trump is not a hard core supporter of Israels war in Gaza. He needs peace in teh region to make his trade deals but on the other hand Netanyahu needs war to stay out of jail. Which is why the President was condoning he should be given a full pardon.
There is also a divide between America’s traditional allies, the UK and most of Europe have openly come and condemned Israels actions and the Foreign secretary David Lammy said ‘Israel’s actions are in violation of international law” which has sparked a genocide debate among British politicians.
Corbyn has submitted a Gaza (Independent Public Inquiry) Bill
A bill to make provision for establishing an independent public inquiry into UK involvement in Israeli military operations in Gaza, which means Starmer and Lammy can no longer evade the questions. has become potentially dangerous because it is a parliamentary inquiry into the issue, which means all of the cabinet and discussions will come to the fray.
This is not Israel’s war it’s Netanyahu
And now this is boiling over to another conflict, in Syria, where a tentative ceasefire in Sweida, Which faces regular challenges as Israel keeps bombing regions in Syria, with the new Syrian leader attempting to manage ongoing violence without leading to a full scale war with Israel.
But there is a feeling within the political community, that Israel is preparing for a full scale ground invasion to land grab the region on other side of the Golan Heights in Syria.
Should the U.S. wade much longer in Netanyahu’s war in the Middle East, Trump would begin unraveling his own political base, built on ending foreign entanglements, curbing illegal immigration and reducing the trade deficit, former Trump adviser Steve Bannon said on Monday.
āItās going to not just blow up the coalition,ā Bannon said on Tucker Carlsonās show. āItās also going to thwart what weāre doing with the most important thing, which is the deportationā of immigrants in the U.S. illegally.
