Paris Saint-Germain against Manchester City looked a top-bracket Champions League final at the start of the tournament but both clubs are floundering to such an extent they could be eliminated next week if they fail to pick up enough points from their final two group matches.

PSG are 25th in the table ahead of the latest round of fixtures and need to climb one place to scrape into the play-off games, which will be staged over two legs next month, while the current English champions have seen their fall from grace at home mirrored in Europe and they are also struggling to stay above water.

Neither side can afford to lose their meeting at the Parc des Princes and a draw may not be satisfactory to either so this is likely to be an intense affair between two outfits who crave possession.

City are still smarting from a 2-0 defeat to Juventus while the Parisians kept alive their chances of surviving the cut with a 3-0 win at Red Bull Salzburg but have failed to find their best form when they have faced the better sides in the tournament, losing to Bayern Munich, Arsenal and Atletico Madrid – their only defeats of the season in all competitions.

They are nine points clear at the top of Ligue 1 and won 2-1 at Lens at the weekend while City restored faith that they are turning the corner following a shocking run of form by trouncing Ipswich 6-0 at Portman Road.

That thumping win followed a 2-2 draw at Brentford when they frittered away a 2-0 lead but that was the only time they have not won in their last five matches and with marquee players like Kevin de Bruyne back to their imperial best they should beat PSG at 7/4 with Betfair.

After a very quiet start to the season Phil Foden scored twice at both Brentford and Ipswich and he is 9/1 with the same firm, Paddy Power, Ladbrokes, Coral and many others to open the scoring and 29/10 with the latter two to get his name on the scoresheet at any time.

City’s chances of retaining their Premier League title are minimal but Sky Bet’s 8/1 for them to finish the campaign as Kings of Europe is tempting.

Arsenal can forget Premier League wobble to cruise past Dinamo Zagreb

Arsenal are once again wobbling in their pursuit of a first Premier League title in 21 years following the 2-2 draw with Aston Villa at the Emirates on Saturday, when they blew a two-goal lead.

They should cruise past Dinamo Zagreb in N5, however, and push the visitors closer to Champions League elimination with a comfortable victory.

The Gunners rarely concede on home soil in Europe and, even with William Saliba out for a couple of weeks with a hamstring injury, they can keep another clean sheet with a victory to nil at 4/6 with bet365 and Sky Bet.

Arsenal look tasty at 15/8 with Paddy Power and Betfair to win by more than one goal and Martin Odegaard is 8/1 with the latter, Ladbrokes, Coral and others to break the deadlock and 23/10 with the last two firms and William Hill to notch at any time.
