Israel’s security Cabinet set to vote on Gaza ceasefire deal
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has announced that a ceasefire agreement with Hamas has been reached after resolving last-minute disputes. The deal is expected to be reviewed by Israel’s security cabinet on Friday, followed by a government meeting for formal approval.
The agreement comes amid heightened tensions and ongoing violence. Gaza’s civil defence agency reports that over 100 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli airstrikes since the ceasefire was initially announced on Wednesday.
This ceasefire follows a deadly conflict which has seen more than 46,000 Palestinians killed in retaliation for the Hamas attack on southern Israel on 7 October 2023.
As the ceasefire deal moves toward approval, international attention remains focused on the humanitarian situation in Gaza and efforts to bring an end to the violence.
