Daily Mirror – Kate’s hug for cancer teen

The Daily Mirror also leads on the “touching royal moment” at Windsor. On the Middle East conflict, the paper carries an appeal to British nationals still in Lebanon to “get out NOW”.

The front page features an image of Princess Kate hugging a young fellow cancer sufferer after she was invited to Windsor Castle to take pictures with Prince William.

Kate Middleton shares emotional embrace with fellow cancer sufferer

The Princess of Wales hugged a young fellow cancer sufferer after she was invited to Windsor Castle to take pictures with Prince William.

In an emotional scene, budding photographer Liz Hatton, 16, who is bravely battling a rare and aggressive tumour, was asked by the Prince of Wales to join him at an investiture he was holding to capture participants including legendary cyclist Sir Mark Cavendish, former rugby referee Waynes Barnes and Scottish footballing legend Ali McCoist. Liz, from Harrogate in Yorkshire, has set herself a challenge to take part in as many photography experiences as possible and received a personal invitation from the future King after he found out about her through the London Air Ambulance Charity, of which he is patron.

Iran-Israel LIVE: Three killed in ‘Israeli air strike on Syria’ after five dead in Beirut

As many as five people have been killed by Israel in Lebanon’s capital Beirut after reports claimed the IDF fired a missile at medical centre.

Yesterday, Israel suffered casualties among its armed forces – with at least one dead – following what has been reported as an ambush by Hezbollah fighters as the ground invasion of Lebanon is stepped up.

IDF special forces were attacked as they moved through villages in the south of the country in the wake of rockets being fired into Israel following Iran’s missile strike on the country.

Western leaders have voiced support for Israel in the aftermath of the attack by Iran which saw around 180 ballistic missiles destroyed by air defences – though diplomatic efforts are in full force after Israel vowed revenge for the bombardment “will be noticed, it will be painful.”

Iran’s oil fields and air defence systems could be hit during the response, according to experts. Meanwhile, last night the UK revealed its armed forces were involved in protecting Israel from Iran’s missile attack. The Ministry of Defence said British forces “played their part”. It comes after Israeli leader Benjamin Netanyahu issued a chilling threat to Iran saying they “made a big mistake” in attacking Israel with missiles and “will pay for it”.

‘Israel vows to respond to Iran’ & ‘Princess Kate returns to royal duties’ - Paper Talk

    Editorial 03 October 2024.

Thursday’s front pages lead with two main stories – polar opposite stories. The ongoing crisis in the Middle East, as Israel has vowed to respond to Iran as fears of an all-out war continue to rise; and Princess Kate’s first public engagement since undergoing cancer treatment.

Most of the broadsheets lead on Israel’s vow to respond to the missile attack, and other stories related to the situation in the Middle East. The tabloids prefer the royal story.
