Israeli strikes in central Syria kill 14, Syrian state media say

At least 14 people have been killed in Israeli air strikes targeting military sites in central Syria, according to Syrian state news agency SANA. The attacks, which occurred near Masyaf in Hama province on Sunday night, also left 43 people injured, according to a hospital director.

A UK-based monitoring group reported that the strikes hit military and scientific facilities where Iran-backed armed groups were active, killing at least four soldiers and three civilians.

The Israeli military declined to comment, though it has previously acknowledged conducting hundreds of strikes on Syrian targets linked to Iran and allied groups.

SANA, citing a Syrian military source, reported that Israeli missiles were launched from Lebanese airspace at around 23:20 local time on Sunday. While Syria’s air defence shot down some of the missiles, others hit their targets, causing damage to a local highway and sparking a fire in the Hair Abbas area.
