Five dead after Israeli airstrike on refugee camp in West Bank

At least five people were killed in an Israeli airstrike on the Nur Shams refugee camp near Tulkarm in the occupied West Bank, according to Palestinian officials. The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) confirmed the attack, stating it targeted the command centre of a “terror cell.”

Separately, the Palestinian Authority reported that one person was killed and three others were injured in an attack by Israeli settlers near Bethlehem. The IDF said it is investigating these reports.

Violence in the West Bank has escalated since the war in Gaza began following the October 7 attacks. According to the UN’s Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, 128 Palestinians, including 26 children, have been killed in airstrikes in the West Bank since the conflict began. The total death toll in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, has reached 607 Palestinians, with seven deaths attributed to Israeli settlers. Meanwhile, ten Israelis have been killed in attacks by Palestinians from the West Bank.

The Nur Shams camp has been repeatedly targeted by the IDF in recent months.
