Mirror Sport – Bru New Deal
The back page of the Daily Mirror reports Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes had called his future at the club into question at the end of last season but the midfielder now looks set to remain with the Red Devils
“Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has made it clear that his side needs to improve, as he prepares to sign a new contract at Old Trafford.
Fernandes was one of the Red Devils’ star players last season during what was a miserable campaign for Erik ten Hag’s men. Though they won the FA Cup, they finished a lowly eighth in the Premier League and ended up rock bottom of their Champions League group.
Following that largely dismal year, there were some questions over Fernandes’ future. The midfielder himself even hinted he would be open to leaving United over the summer transfer window.
But he has instead remained at United and captained Ten Hag’s side in their Community Shield defeat to Manchester City. Speaking after the game, Fernandes made it clear that he is keen to drive his team-mates to improve.”
