Man sucker punches busker after disrupting his show in Covent Garden | UK News

A young busker has shared the moment a stranger sucker-punched him in the stomach in the middle of a performance.

Bryan Wong, from Singapore, was performing circus acts to a busy crowd including children in Covent Garden when the man began disrupting his show.

‘The guy invaded my pitch twice. The first time he did it at the start of the show. I played it off like every busker does,’ Bryan said.

‘And then the second time he did it once again, I tried to play it off – it was during the middle of the show.

‘I had my three volunteers on stage, and then he came on the stage and I tried to play it off again and he didn’t want to leave this time.

‘So I told him: “Hey can you just leave because I’m trying to do a show here.”

‘Then he started kicking all my stuff, so after that I approached him. I wanted to usher him off the stage and that was when he hit me.’

Footage filmed by a spectator shows the man suddenly breaking from a relaxed stance to throw a punch at Bryan’s midriff.

He then immediately tried to flee, with Bryan briefly attempting to restrain him before backing away.

The man can then be seen calmly walking away from the scene.

Bryan has since reassured followers he was fine and defended the people around him from criticism suggesting they should have intervened.

He said: ;My friends were distracted (and) didn’t actually see what happened until after he left.

‘No one can blame the audience for not knowing what to do.’

He continued: ‘Personally, I don’t care about the guy. The punch didn’t hurt.

‘Honestly, it’s just sad to see some people living their lives like this, finding satisfaction in hurting other people. I think that’s stupid and that’s lame.

‘I’m not going to let it affect me. I came to Covent Garden to be a better busker, to bring better shows back to Singapore.’

The incident does not appear to have been reported to police.
