The Tories have been accused of neglecting Stepping Hill Hospital in Greater Manchester which has suffered leaks, heating failures and crumbling buildings. The Mirror has now seen images of a flooded corridor and an intensive care unit that reveal just how broken the UK’s national health service is. One photo in the hospital, which is in the Cheadle constituency and has been held by the Conservatives since 2015, shows a dark corridor covered in sodden sheets that have been laid across the floors to try to soak up the water. Another is of a critical care unit with water raining through the ceiling panels and brown patches of liquid on the floor.
Jay Slater detective issues new Tenerife update and makes plea after Brit disappears
The former British police detective working for missing Jay Slater’s distraught family has thanked the public for their “huge response”. Mark Williams-Thomas, 54, says he is now focusing on speaking to more witnesses, including the two British men the 19-year-old stayed with the night before he vanished. He also issued a plea for anyone who saw or spoke to them or the apprentice bricklayer in Tenerife to come forward. Writing on X, formerly known as Twitter, on Friday morning, Mr Williams-Thomas said: “I am grateful for the huge response from the public with information about Jay Slater.

The families of England stars were showered in beer amid the angry fan revolt in Cologne. England supporters threw beer cups, shouted abuse and made X-rated gestures at Gareth Southgate at the end of the stalemate with Slovenia. But WAGs, family members and loved ones were caught in the disgraceful scenes after England boss Southgate went over to the fans at the end of the game.

Friday’s newspapers are dominated by the general election and with less than a week until polling days, they are keen to force home their messages.
The traditional right-leaning newspapers are slamming Nigel Farage’s Reform Party – the true threat to the Conservatives at this election after members were recorded making racist, homophobic and Islamophobic comments. Other right-leaning papers are tapping into fears that Labour will end up with a supermajority if disillusioned Conservative voters decide to cast their vote for Reform.
