‘I resigned from my beloved job due to threats against my family’

Plaid Cymru Councillor Shelley Rees-Owen has made headlines in Wales after bravely standing up to a threat against her and her family. The councillor, who represents the Tylorstown ward in Rhondda Cynon Taf, revealed that she felt compelled to take action and resign from the job she loved to protect her family.

She has even had to protect her social media pages from abuse, by making the private.

“In that instance, when someone has threatened you and your family – I needed to put a stop to it,” Rees-Owen stated.

The threat, which has not been disclosed in detail, prompted the councillor to take decisive steps to protect herself and her loved ones.

    Commended her for her bravery

Plaid Cymru leader Adam Price commended her for her bravery, stating, “Shelley has shown incredible courage and resolve in standing up to this threat. We stand in solidarity with her and her family.”

Despite the risks, Rees-Owen remains undeterred in her commitment to serving her community and standing up for what is right.

Residents of Rhondda Cynon Taf are rallying behind Councillor Rees-Owen, offering their support and solidarity during this difficult time.
