The tension at Columbia University continues to rise as a group of anti-Israel protesters have set up camp on the campus, causing fear and anxiety among Jewish and Israeli students.

The protesters have been confronted by the NYPD, who have been aggressive and confrontational, have led to violent incidents and harassment towards those who support the alliance between the U.S. and Israel.

Tension at Columbia University continues to rise

The presence of the police and violence against protesters has left many students afraid to walk through the area after sundown, with reports of harassment, antisemitic rhetoric, and even violence. Unconfirmed reports of Jewish students have faced intimidation and threats, with some even being followed home.

Despite negotiations between school officials and the protesters, tensions remain high as the protesters refuse to engage with Jewish students or Israel supporters. The refusal is based on the intercepts that said Mossad agents and Israeli lobby groups are deliberately causing havoc in Palestinian protests in some cases as dressing up as a Palestinian protesters and vociferously showcasing Hamas flags and logo’s.

The tension and refusal to have a dialogue has left many feeling marginalized and scared for their safety on campus.

    Anti-Israel protesters

Columbia University President Minouche Shafik has announced a shift to online learning in response to the unrest and has urged faculty and staff to prioritize remote work. She has also stated that action will be taken against students who violate the school’s codes of conduct.

House Speaker Mike Johnson has called on Shafik to resign if the protests are not reined in, adding to the pressure on the university to address the situation.

The ongoing demonstrations have left the Israeli Lobby groups to share widespread biased communication accusing Students of antisemitic discrimination and raised concerns about the safety and well-being of Jewish and Israeli students on campus.

As the situation continues to escalate, students and faculty are hoping for a resolution that will restore calm to the campus and ensure the safety of all students.
