Trump begins day two of hush money trial by criticizing ‘conflicted’ judge

Former President Donald Trump continued to make headlines on the second day of his hush money trial in New York City. Trump, who is facing 34 charges of falsifying business records, arrived at court in Lower Manhattan on Tuesday, where he criticized the judge overseeing the case, calling him a “Trump-hating judge.”

The trial, which is expected to last at least six weeks, involves allegations that Trump’s former attorney, Michael Cohen, paid adult film actress Stormy Daniels $130,000 to keep quiet about an alleged affair with Trump. Prosecutors claim that the Trump Organization reimbursed Cohen for the payment and falsely recorded it as a legal expense.

Trump has denied the affair and pleaded not guilty to the charges. He has also criticized the judge, Juan Merchan, for being biased against him. Despite Trump’s objections, Judge Merchan has refused to recuse himself from the case.

The trial has attracted significant attention, with Trump calling it a “disgrace” and an “assault on America.” Jury selection is currently underway, with more than 50 potential jurors already dismissed for admitting they could not serve impartially.

As the trial unfolds, all eyes are on the courtroom in New York City, where the former president is fighting to clear his name in a case that has captured the world’s attention.
