Canadian film director Norman Jewison has died aged 97.
The filmmaker was famous for projects such as Fiddler on the Roof (1971), Moonstruck (1987), and In the Heat of the Night (1967).
Jewison died Saturday (January 20) at his home in Los Angeles, publicist Jeff Sanderson announced.
While he is said to have died ‘peacefully’, an exact cause of death wasn’t shared.
His career spanned four decades and he was nominated for seven Oscars in his time.
He earned recognition in the best director category three times as well as four best picture noms.
In total, his films received a whopping 46 Academy Award nominations and 12 wins.
During the 1999 Oscars, Jewison was honoured with the prestigious Irving Thalberg Award.
He was also a proud winner of three Emmy Awards for his work in television.
