In today’s MetroTalk we’re bracing ourselves for the cold and the NHS has suggested an unconventional method to sidestep icy mishaps.

While an amusing sight, it might not be the swiftest or most dignified mode of transportation, but it’s certainly safer than slipping. So, will you be waddling through the cold snap?

Read on to see what readers think about this, among other things.

    No, it’s not April 1st…

I had to check if it was April 1 or Comic Relief Day when I saw the front page of Metro on Friday.

So, the NHS advice now is to walk like a penguin to avoid slipping on the ice? If I walked down the road in the style as shown, people would probably think I had been in the watering hole for too long.

Thanks, but I think I’ll stick to having a Penguin with my cup of tea instead. Dec, Essex

I caught the No.5A bus on Friday and as it neared Leicester, a passenger helped herself to five copies of Metro, then another did the same. Could people limit themselves to one copy? Carolyn Seville, via email

Does anyone know why we have so many national and regional weather presenters? Sometimes there can be three weather reports within a few minutes, all saying the same thing? Tina, Manchester

Does news of steel giant Tata reportedly closing blast furnaces at its Port Talbot plant (Metro, Fri) spell the end of UK steel-making?

Do we believe that China and India are going to produce greener steel? No, they’ll produce poor quality steel with no attempt to use clean power. Molly Neville, Sheffield

Further to the responses to teachers going on strike at the south Wales school over violence from students (MetroTalk, Fri). There were no assaults when teachers were allowed to use the cane. I know these days that seems horrible to all the
do-gooders – but it worked. Phil, via email

Caption: Rishi Sunak saw the Safety of Rwanda Bill pass its third reading in the House of Commons by a majority of 44 on Wednesday (Credits: PA)

After Rishi Sunak just about squeezed his Rwanda bill through parliament, he asked whether the House of Lords would pass it or ‘frustrate the will of the people’?

Mr Sunak is, of course, an unelected prime minister trying to force through a bill that wasn’t even in his party’s manifesto – having scrapped both HS2 and net-zero targets, which were.

I’m not entirely confident that he’s in any position to be lecturing anybody about ‘the will of the people’. Julian Self, Wolverton

Hamas did not, to quote Mat Fleming (MetroTalk, Thu), ‘give peace a chance’ when they slaughtered 1,400 innocent Israelis.

And what ‘concessions’ could Israel make that might satisfy a group of homicidal maniacs whose stated goal is the destruction of Israel?Rob, Reading

Kate Middleton was admitted to The London Clinic for abdominal surgery on Tuesday (Credits: SWNS)

I asked my GP in November for new moulds made for my hearing aids. My appointment is this May. The King and Kate Middleton can be seen straight away when they need treatment. One rule for one and one rule for others? Colin, via text

Clark (MetroTalk, Wed) went from railing against e-scooters to talking about police officers ‘taking the knee’. He truly revealed himself. Ningee, via email

Once again we have David of Durham’s lopsided view of history (MetroTalk, Thu). Britain banned the transatlantic slave trade only after participating in it for over a century and transporting more Africans than any other power aside from Portugal – and it wasn’t until 1833 that owning slaves was outlawed throughout the empire.

Also, Magna Carta was not the ‘invention of human rights’; that’s credited to 6th century BC Persia. Kit, Birmingham

Did anyone else thinking of popping to the station to get a Metro today just to read the next instalment of David and Pedro’s MetroTalk debate? Chloe, Tonbridge
