Mark Williams has won the second of the Macau Masters events this Christmas, beating Jack Lisowski in the final and crediting his coach Lee Walker for his work.

The exhibition event featured a star-studded cast, with Williams downing Judd Trump and Lisowski beating Marco Fu in the semi-finals, while Ronnie O’Sullivan, Ding Junhui, Si Jiahui and Kyren Wilson all fell in the quarters.

The three-time world champion won the final 9-6, despite Jackpot knocking in a 147 in the fourth frame.

Walker has long been working with Williams and has recently started coaching Lisowski as well so it was a successful few days for the Welshman and the Macau Masters champion praised his friend for his work after his victory.

‘Best coach in the world by far, no comparison,’ Williams tweeted, with his unique way of spelling corrected. ‘No one comes close to him.’

It’s high praise from the 48-year-old, who has seen it all in the game after turning professional 31 years ago.

Walker also works with one of the brightest young talents in the sport, Liam Davies, with much expected of the 17-year-old, making his way under the guidance of his fellow Welshman.

We can expect to see more of these big-money exhibitions in the future, with Ronnie O’Sullivan promising that this is the ‘first of many’.

The Rocket tweeted on Christmas Day: ‘Really proud to be out here in Macau doing my first joint events promotion with the Wynn! The venue is looking really good and it’s going to be an amazing event. Can’t wait for it to get underway and it will be the first of many!’
