Israel says Gaza war to continue ‘with or without’ international support
Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said Israel will “go to the end, to victory” regardless of “international pressures.”
His foreign minister says the war in the Gaza Strip will continue “with or without international support.”
The comments came after US President Joe Biden said Israel was losing global support for the ongoing war in Gaza – something he appeared to walk back later.
White House National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan is expected in Israel for talks with Netanyahu and the Israeli war cabinet. On Wednesday, Sullivan met Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to discuss creating a lasting peace in the Middle East.
The health ministry in Gaza says 18,600 people have been killed and more than 50,000 people injured in the enclave since the war began.
Israel’s retaliatory campaign started after Hamas fighters broke through the perimeter on 7 October, killing 1,200 people and taking 240 hostages.
