PMQs: Sunak faces Starmer in last PMQs this year

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak is set to face the Labour leader Sir Kier Starmer in the final Prime Minister Questions (PMQs) of the year.

The final session will likely be dominated by last night’s vote on the government’s flagship policy to send some asylum seekers to Rwanda after the PM was able to see off a rebellion – allowing his policy to clear its first hurdle in the Commons.

Many thought there would be a Tory rebellion, but none of the PM’s MPs voted against the plan despite threats to do so. But some MPs did choose to abstain.

Labour opposes the Rwanda plan and has vowed to scrap it if it wins the next general election.

The newly released ONS figures show that the economy shrank by more than expected in October. The government said this was the “inevitable” result of efforts to curb inflation, but Labour said growth was “going backwards”.

    What time is PMQs?

The final session of the year will take place at its usual time of midday on Wednesday 13 December.

It will last around 30 minutes.

    Where can I watch PMQs?

You can watch the session on the UK Parliament’s YouTube channel.
