It was unexpected (Picture: ITV)
Audrey Roberts (Sue Nicholls) was incredibly emotional in Monday’s (December 11) episode of Coronation Street as she received some of Stephen Reid’s (Todd Boyce) belongings.
Stephen died during this year’s Super Soap Week. The businessman was responsible for killing three people, drugging Carla (Alison King) and leaving Tim (Joe Duttine) to die in the boot of his car.
He was killed by Peter (Chris Gascoyne), who drove his car into Stephen to prevent him from harming Jenny (Sally Ann Matthews).
The aftermath of Stephen’s death has focused on a lot of Weatherfield residents. We’ve watched Carla and Sarah (Tina O’Brien) attempt to get Underworld back on track, and we’ve seen Tim deal with horrific flashbacks of being trapped in the boot of his cab.
For Audrey, the focus has been on her coming to terms with the real Stephen Reid.

When he returned to Weatherfield a few years ago, Stephen was established as someone who could do no wrong in Audrey’s eyes. He could charm and manipulate the beloved character into thinking he was perfect – so of course her reaction wasn’t the same as the rest of the Platt family when the truth about Stephen was exposed.
In tonight’s episode, Audrey spent a lot of the day with David (Jack P Shepherd).

She had been given some of Stephen’s belongings from the police, which obviously stirred up a lot of emotion.
One item Audrey was particularly interested in was Stephen’s diary. At the Platt household, David wondered if there was any point in keeping Stephen’s stuff, arguing that Audrey might feel better if she got rid of it all.

Audrey was reluctant to agree with David. She said that there was another side to Stephen’s personality that wasn’t evil, and would be reminded of that while looking through his journal.
In upcoming episodes, Jenny will take a look at the files on Stephen’s laptop. She notices one of Stephen’s that he last edited on the day he died. It’s labelled ‘Infinity Seagull Ventures,’ but as Jenny tries to open it she realises it’s been password protected.

Soon enough, Jenny and Carla will realise that the diary could hold a clue to the password on the mystery file.
Can they crack the code?
It was a difficult day.
