Sam Thompson’s full, real name has shocked I’m A Celebrity fans after he won the ITV reality show.

The Made In Chelsea star, 31, was crowned 2023’s King of the Jungle beating fellow finalists Nigel Farage and Tony Bellew.

While the fan-favourite contestant’s win may not have been all that surprising, his ‘posh’ full name certainly has been among fans.

Following his crowning, X user Liam Hamilton wrote: ‘Sam Thompson – aka “Samuel Robert De Courcy Thompson”, yes really! – crowned king of the jungle in front of 7.5m viewers.’

Richard Driver responded: ‘Samuel Robert De Courcy Thompson has the right sort of name to make something of himself.

‘He just needs to be taken under the wing of someone with the “right stuff”. Alexander Boris De Pfeffel Johnson for example.’

X user @NawTrouble added: ‘Gotta love that people think Nigel Farage is a posh privileged git but Samuel Robert De Courcy Thompson is some ordinary geezer.’

TikTok user Em Fandango talked about the name in a new post examining other Made In Chelsea cast members, saying: ‘I think any English sounding name with a “De” in it means “money”, it means “old money”‘

She went on to compare his name to that of his sister, Louise Anne De Simmy Courcy Thomspon, which she said was ‘even more posh’.

‘They just had to add a little extra one in there, just for spice,’ she joked, pointing at the name ‘Simmy’ on the star’s Wikipedia page.

Reality TV star Sam will be returning home from the jungle not only to fans talking about his name but also his nephew after the adorable tot learned to say it.

Taking to Instagram for a very sweet post, Louise heaped praise on her brother alongside a video of his two-year-old nephew Leo saying his name for the first time.

‘As cliché as it is I can’t find a better word than proud @samthompsonuk !!!!! So I’ll just go with proud x 1000000000000000 👑,’ she wrote in the caption as she shared a carousel of snaps and videos celebrating his big win.

‘I just received a call from my brother (I happened to be looking at photos of his face on my phone when his name popped up which was a little odd 😅😅 especially since our relationship has been v one sided and only via a tv screen for the last 3 weeks) but I’ve never been more thrilled to hear your voice.

Sam’s girlfriend Zara McDermott shared an adorable video of the entire family’s eruption of applause in celebration of his win, and he had seen the video even before switching his phone back on.

Sam appeared on Lorraine to discuss his win and confessed he ‘cried’ when he saw all his loved ones so happy for him.
