A new Netflix documentary has caused a major stir online as viewers cannot believe what they’ve seen.

Escaping Twin Flames was released on November 8, and in the month since viewers have been absolutely shocked at what they’ve witnessed.

The jaw-dropping documentary explores Twin Flames Universe, a cult set up by Shaleia and Jeff Divine which promises people can find their true love if they join.

What starts off as a straightforward enough documentary quickly devolves into absolute chaos, with each episode bringing more and more disturbing twists

Viewers have been taking to Twitter, aka X, to share their bewilderment at the series, with one user, Abraham, summing it all up by writing: ‘My mind is f***ed after watching that.’

Others described it as ‘absolutely insane,’ ‘mad’, ‘f*****g wild’ and ‘so twisted.’

User Jacqui said she had just finished watching the series and was ‘shook,’ adding it was ‘a must-watch to wrap your head around this madness.’

Cult leaders Jeff and Shaleia promised followers they would find them true love, but something far more sinister was at play (Picture: Netflix)

‘I am in disbelief at every single thing about this show,’ user Chica Gibson added, while Lucy Burdge agreed it was ‘INSANE.’

User Whitney said she had finished the series and was ‘still reeling,’ while Jeff said ‘Christ, my mind was blown.’

Without getting into spoilers, the cult – which is unique in that it’s held mostly over Zoom and Facebook – begins controlling its members in incredibly disturbing ways, as members cut off their families and quit their jobs to fully commit to the group.

The series talks to people who managed to escape the cult, as well as family members whose loved ones cut them off as they got sucked in (Picture: Netflix)

Members are told to continue harassing the person they believe is their Twin Flame, even if that person makes it very clear they’re not interested, with members ending up having restraining orders taken out on them and some even landing in prison.

And that’s just the start of it, as the cult goes down an even deeper rabbit hole as Jeff proclaims himself the next coming of Jesus Christ, and finds even more chilling ways to control his followers.

For real, we cannot stress enough just how weird this gets.

Families of members take part in the documentary and share their pain at being cut off from their loved one, and former members tell their story of how they were sucked in – some making it all the way to the top before realising they’re in a cult.

Netflix describes the documentary as a look into a ‘sinister love story’, with filmmakers Cecilia Peck and Inbal B Lessner saying they created the series ‘for everyone who has been manipulated or coerced without knowing it.’

Escaping Twin Flames is now streaming on Netflix
