A grandparent’s trip to Wetherspoons got out of hand when their grandson posted where they were sitting online – as they were sent dozens of free drinks.

Their grandson Mark posted in a Facebook group called ‘Wetherspoons: The Game’, where people send one another random drinks, and ask for contributions.

Alongside a photo of his grandparents, he said: ‘Nana is partial to a glass of Malbec or merlot red. Granddad likes a pint. Nothing crazy guys, I’ve got to put them to bed!

‘Nana thinks she is about to be cloned and her pension account emptied. Let’s show her we mean business.’

Photos taken shortly after showed eight pints and five glasses of red wine in front of Mark’s stunned grandparents.

She was also seen holding a shot (Picture: Facebook)

Mark joked: ‘Nana needs no sleep aide tonight guys.’

In a later photo, Mark’s nan was pictured holding a pink-coloured shot and looking shocked.

The grandparent’s reactions left internet users in stitches, with one saying: ‘This is the funniest thing I have ever seen. Look at Nana haha what a great game’.

Other users took the opportunity to send fresh mince pies to the elderly couple.

Another user added: ‘This is absolutely sensational.’
