Jurrien Timber has provided an update on his ACL injury as the Arsenal defender plots a return to action having been ruled out since August.
Arsenal signed Timber from Ajax in a deal worth £38m this summer but despite much hype over his arrival, he has only managed to make two appearances.
After playing 76 minutes as the Gunners beat Manchester City in the Community Shield, Timber picked up a nasty ACL injury on his Premier League debut against Nottingham Forest.
While no timeline on his return has been given, reports in the Netherlands have claimed that Timber could miss Euro 2024 this summer.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta was quizzed about the player last week and admitted that Timber was ‘far from competing’.
Asked if Timber will soon continue his rehabilitation on grass, Arteta said: ‘Well, I hope so.
‘He’s been for a few walks out on the field. He’s still a bit far from competing but he’s in a good place.’
Timber has now taken to Instagram to post his own update, with a video showing himself running on a treadmill and doing a series of exercises with weights.
Timber’s caption on the post read: ‘#ProjectComeback Vol 2. Putting the work in.’
Timber also wrote: ‘And we know that in all things… God works for the good… of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.’

Arteta, meanwhile, recently admitted that Timber is settling in really well at London Colney.
‘If you talk to anyone in that building, everybody that gets close to him [will tell you] he’s a really special guy,’ Arteta added. ‘We were really impressed when we signed him.
‘He’s had a big setback and a difficult moment to go through and he’s been really special in the way he has handled the situation, really special.’
