Authorities have released shocking video footage of a murder suspect firing off 10 rounds at a police officer attempting to arrest them.
Last week, Cristobal Santana, was arrested after the murder of his girlfriend, Adrianna Lopez, a special needs teacher in Chicago.
Lopez, 37, was shot 10 times in front of her home in the city’s Garfield Ridge neighborhood on October 22. Police say she was approached by a dark colored SUV being driven by someone she knew.
Witnesses said the driver got out and argued with Lopez before shooting and killing her in the quiet residential neighborhood.

Five days later, police apprehended her boyfriend at a traffic stop, who had fled south to Springfield, Illinois.
Santana, 37, was pulled over by Illinois State Trooper Dakotah ‘Kody’ Chapman-Green around 10.45pm on Tuesday night.
According to State Police Director Brendan Kelly, Santana opened fire on the officer after he approached the passenger-side window of the shooter’s car.
‘At some point during the conversation, Santana exited his vehicle and fired at least 10 shots at Kody, some of which struck him at least twice, one in each leg.,’ Kelly said.

He continued: ‘Kody tried to take cover, but the suspect ran after him, catching up to him and repeatedly struck him in the head and face with the gun after completely emptying the magazine.’
Chapman-Green suffered facial fractures, a skull fracture, and a brain bleed, in from the beating, in addition to the previous gunshot wounds.
Two Good Samaritans saw the attack, and managed to administer first aid to the wounded officer.
‘By the grace of god, by his own endurance, and with the help of the public and first responders, Kody survived this brutal attack,’ Director Kelly said.

The director called Santana’s actions ‘diabolical, hateful, vicious evil.’
The shooter was apprehended around 2.00am that morning. Video footage from the arrest shows he was struck by a police vehicle while trying to run away on foot.
Santana was charged with attempted murder, aggravated battery with a firearm, and unlawful use of a weapon.
He was also identified as the person of interest in Lopez’s murder, but he has not yet been charged for that shooting.
The wounded trooper was also chased and viciously beaten by the shooter.
