A dad and his 14-year-old son out bowling together are among the 18 victims who died in a mass shooting in the US.

Bill Young and his son Aaron were shot and killed at the Just-In-Time Recreation bowling alley in Lewiston, Maine, on Wednesday night, according to Bill’s brother Rob Young.

Before their death was confirmed, Rob had flown from Baltimore to Lewiston to help his sister-in-law in her desperate search for information as no one had heard from the pair since the shooting.

Bill and Aaron had been playing in the bowling league when the tragedy happened.

Suspected gunman Robert Card, 40, remains on the run with residents told to shelter while police continue the hunt.

At least five others killed by the shooter, including in the attack on Schemengees Bar and Grille, have been named by family and friends. They are:

    Tricia Asselin

The 53-year-old had been trying to phone 911 when the shooter killed her at the bowling alley, her brother DJ Johnson told CNN.

Ms Asselin worked at the bowling alley part-time, but on Wednesday was there for a night out with her sister, who survived.

Mr Johnson said it was just like her to try and help others by calling emergency services.

‘She wasn’t going to run,’ he explained. ‘She was going to try and help.’

She leaves behind an adult son.

    Joseph Walker

Mr Walker worked at Schemengees Bar and Grille and lived in nearby Auburn, Maine, his father Leroy Walker told MSNBC.

The elder Walker said his son was a beloved husband, dad and granddad who was helping to raise two grandchildren and a stepson.

He regularly ran tournaments to raise money for local causes and had been planning a cornhole tournament to help veterans when he died.

    Bryan MacFarlane

Mr MacFarlane, 40, was part of a group in the deaf community taking part in a cornhole tournament at Schemengees Bar and Grille when he was shot, his sister Keri Brooks told CNN.

Mr MacFarlane was a keen motorcyclist who adored his dog, M&M and had recently moved back to Maine, Ms Brooks said.

    Bob Violette

Mr Violette, 76, was a retired Sears mechanic who would go bowling on most weekdays, his daughter-in-law Cassandra Violette told the Sun Journal newspaper.

He started a youth league, the newspaper said, and took part in a couples’ league with his wife.

Michael Deslauriers II and his friend died in the massacre after protecting their wives and young children, according to his dad Michael Deslauriers Sr.

‘I have the hardest news for a father to ever have to share,’ Deslauriers Sr wrote on Facebook. ‘They made sure their wives and several young children were under cover then they charged the shooter.’

Suspected gunman Card is an army reservist who struggled with mental health issues, his family have said.

Heavily armed police and FBI agents raided a home belonging to one of his relatives near Bowdoin, the town where Card lived, late last night.

Part of the search played out on live TV as law enforcement officers executed warrants.

Officers asked TV crews to turn off their lights nearby before yelling into a megaphone: ‘You need to come outside now with nothing in your hands. Your hands in the air.’

But hours later, after repeated announcements and a search, authorities moved off — and it was still unclear whether Card had ever been there.

Yesterday it emerged Card could have made a getaway on a jetski after he registered a 2019 Sea Doo jet ski in his name in June, according to marine records seen by MailOnline.

Eight people injured in the massacre are currently in hospital, with five in a stable condition and three in a critical condition.
