Eddie Kadi and Karen Hauer’s fate on Strictly Come Dancing could have been sealed the moment they were given the samba.
This week, comedian Eddie and his professional partner Karen will be performing the Brazillian dance to Calm Down by Rema and Selena Gomez, which doesn’t have the best track record.
Research has found that the style of dance is most likely to have you leaving behind Elstree Studio for good.
A whopping 20.6% of the eliminated celebrities over the past six series have been dancing the samba, William Hill found.
This includes Les Dennis back in week one whose nautical-themed samba had him sailing away from the competition.
Of course, not all is lost and comedian Eddie, 40, and Karen, 41, who were in the dance-off last week against Jody Cundy and Jowita Przystal, as it can also be the perfect opportunity to impress the judges Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse, Anton Du Beke, and Shirley Ballas.

The samba can offer the chance to receive positive feedback when the technique is mastered – Ellie Leach and Vito Coppola made it through on their samba last week, and Bobby Brazier and Dianne Buswell’s Romeo and Juliet-themed samba on movie week was a box office hit.
While Layton Williams and Nikita Kuzmin had to take on the genre of dance in week one, and he’s still standing (and splitting).
Strictly history has been made by the samba too – who can forget Danny Mac and Oti Mabuse’s performance in 2016 – the first time the samba ever received full marks.

The jive and cha-cha-cha are also tough dances (Picture: William Hill Vegas)
According to data, the jive is the second riskiest routine from the 15 available dance genres and has contributed to 15.5% of eliminations since 2018 – including Nikita Kanda and Gorka Marquez from the current series – with the Cha Cha Cha (12%) rounding off the top three.
Eddie is currently 13/8 favourite to leave in Sunday’s results show, and Zara McDermott is following closely behind at 7/4, and Adam Thomas is third on the list at 10/3.
Meanwhile, Bobby Brazier is now the joint favourite to win the series, trading at 9/4 for glory alongside Nigel Harman.
Strictly Come Dancing continues Saturday at 6.35pm on BBC One.
