Amelia (Daisy Campbell) has been scraping by the last few weeks since her dad Dan (Liam Fox) was jailed for killing her stalker with a single punch. Dan received eight years in prison for his actions, leaving the teen mum alone to fend for herself.
Now that she’s alone, Amelia has been struggling to keep up with her college while making enough money to get by, contemplating giving up her studies.
Even living with Chas isn’t solving her problems – she’s still having to accept hand-outs from Sam, who can barely afford them himself.

But while she’s struggling yet soldiering on, something is about to see her spiral right back down.
It is an entire year since Amelia went into labour in the middle of the awful Emmerdale storm. Her miracle little baby, whose name means ‘star’, is one year old – Amelia has survived her first year of motherhood!

But the momentous occasion is swathed in sadness without the little girl’s doting grandad there to celebrate.
Amelia is all too aware of the gaping hole Dan has left.

To compound her grief, she is left distraught when she receives a birthday card from banged-up Dan, a stark reminder that he’s not where he should be.
