The big game for PS Plus September 2023 is Saints Row reveals leak

After not giving away the August line-up, a regular PS Plus leaker has shared at least one game included with September’s free games.

The line-up of monthly free games for PlayStation Plus has been leaking like clockwork for years now, thanks to insider bilbill-kun. They’ve always proven highly accurate but for some reason they didn’t comment on August’s line-up.

Instead, they’ve spent the last month or so leaking other announcements, such as a new Walking Dead game and Sony’s discount on the PlayStation 5.

Today, though, they’re back to basics and have given away one of the games included in PS Plus’s September line-up: Saints Row.

As a reminder, the 2022 reboot of Volition’s more ludicrous take on Grand Theft Auto proved very polarising at launch, which is a polite way of saying it was awful – with some embarrassingly outdated graphics and gameplay.

It also wasn’t profitable, a few months after launch, Volition wound up being transferred into Borderlands developer Gearbox, although whether this jeopardises its chances of making a Saints Row sequel is unclear.

The game has been heavily discounted almost since its first release, so its appearance as the headliner for PS Plus month isn’t terribly exciting – unless you’ve been morbidly curious and only wanted to give it a try for free.

Saints Row is described by bilbill-kun as the headliner of September’s PS Plus games and they say that it will be joined by two others. It’s not clear when they’ll reveal them but we’ll update this story when they do.

What they can say is that a formal announcement from Sony will take place this Wednesday on August 30, and the games will be made available to download from September 5 through to October 3.

As a reminder, PS Plus subscribers only have until September 4 to download and keep the August line-up, which includes Dreams – Media Molecule’s game creation tool that’s stuffed to the brim with fan-made projects.
