Fyre Festival founder Billy McFarland has revealed that tickets for the upcoming event sold out ‘very, very quickly’, following the controversy surrounding the first attempt.
The infamous bash launched in 2016 and quickly descended into chaos as attendees arrived on a tropical island in the Bahamas expecting luxury at every turn, but were met with awful conditions, a lack of water, basic tents and cheese sandwiches that will go down in internet history.
Netflix cameras captured the fallout in an iconic documentary, while McFarland was released from prison last year after pleading guilty to multiple counts of fraud.
However, he clearly isn’t about to let his dreams slip away, as he released presale tickets for Fyre Festival 2 this week.
Despite not confirming a location, any artists on the line-up or whether the accommodation and food would be better than his first attempt, the founder shared the ticket price tiers for the event, charging almost $8,000 for some options.
If those prices weren’t eye-watering enough, it seems that many revelers are up for round two, as the first batch of tickets, priced at $499 a pop, have sold out.

Chatting about his plans, McFarland insisted that Fyre Festival 2 will ‘become a great cultural moment’.
Sidenote: Someone make sure Netflix cameras are fully charged…
‘We announced our first pre-sale on Sunday, they sold out very, very quickly,’ he told TMZ in an interview.
‘No line-up announced, we did not share the location and we sold out the first drop almost instantly. It’s just so incredible to finally have the support to make the Fyre dream a reality and to really share it with the world.’
Although he wasn’t able to share any details about the line-up, McFarland revealed that he would be cooking up cheese sandwiches at the festival – alongside Andy King.
As in, the same Andy King who attempted to save the original festival by ‘taking one for the team’ and offering up sexual favors in return for a shipment of Evian water, which was held up at customs.
He didn’t have to resort to that in the end and clearly wasn’t put off by his ordeal, as he will be appearing at Fyre Festival 2 once more, beside McFarland.
‘Our partners are not going to let me do much at the festival, however I am going to be cooking cheese sandwiches with Andy at the actual event,’ the businessman added. ‘I think it’s as far as they’ll let me go.’

Celebrating the news on Twitter, he added: ‘The first FYRE Festival II drop has sold out. Since 2016 FYRE has been the most talked about festival in the world. We now saw this convert to one of the highest priced GA pre-sales in the industry.
‘FYRE is about people from the around the world coming together to pull off the impossible. This time we have incredible support. I’ll be doing what I love while working with the best logistical and infrastructure partners.
‘In addition, all ticket sale revenue will be held in escrow until the final date is announced. We look forward to surprising the world alongside our partners as we build FYRE and FYRE Festival II into the island adventure of a lifetime.’

According to the official website, Fyre Festival 2 is slated to take place in the Caribbean at the end of 2024 – but the location and date are subject to change.
Ticketholders will have access to the festival as well as ‘immediate VIP access’ to Fyre events, experiences, and community.
Their passes will also get them ‘VIP access to Fyre experiences, including Fyre fights, documentary and film screenings, weekend trips, and more’.
