2023 World Cup: Japan vs Norway predictions

This 2023 World Cup has been truly thrilling. And if you’ve been loving the tournament as much as we have – the next few days are set to be a footballing dream. This weekend will see some VERY BIG games as Switzerland take on Spain, the USA are up against Sweden and favourites Japan face Norway.

Here are a few expert predictions for the hotly anticipated Japan vs Norway.

Japan 2-0 Costa Rica: Former World Cup champions progress to Round of 16
Japan beat Costa Rica: progress to Round of 16

Japan are the team to beat at this point in the competition as the only side that put together three consistently good performances across the entire group stage. A number of rotational changes in those early games has also highlighted the depth that exists in this particular squad.

Conversely, Norway were at huge risk of not getting into the knockout rounds at all until they finally put together a polished performance to beat Philippines 6-0 in their final group game. But the problems and lack of cohesion that have plagued them since Euro 2022 aren’t fully resolved.

    Predictions: Japan 4-1 Norway – (90MINS)

Norway would have taken confidence from their comfortable win over the Philippines, but Japan will prove to be a much tougher test, and we think the Asian side will produce another strong performance to book their place in the quarter-finals.

Prediction: Japan 2-0 Norway – (SportsMole)

Japan have had a wonderful start to their 2023 campaign and look to be a real contender for the world cup. Norway won’t be easy, but Japan will likely put in another strong performance.

Prediction: Japan 2-0 Norway – (WTX SPORT)
